NSU named home of South Dakota's first McNair Scholars Program
A grant of $1.5 million will go to Northern State University to establish the state's only McNair Scholars Program.
McNair is a program designed to increase the number of PhD students who are either first-generation college students or people traditionally underrepresented in grad-level education.
To accommodate the program, NSU will hire a McNair director and research coordinator to work in the campus student success center.
Until those positions are filled, potential students interested in the program are encouraged to reach out to NSU faculty directly.
