Lake Area Technical College announced Cam Corey as their next vice president.

According to the college, he will start on Nov. 1, succeeding the outgoing vice president, Diane Stiles. Stiles has been vice president since 2014.

“I am honored and humbled to be joining the best two-year college in the nation,” Corey said in a press release. “The staff and faculty at Lake Area Tech are second to none with their student-first approach.”

Corey worked in law enforcement for 25 years. Previously, he was a law enforcement educator, including as an adjunct instructor at Lake Area Technical College and the South Dakota Law Enforcement Training Center.

“Cam’s professional track record speaks highly of his readiness to jump in and lead at Lake Area Tech,” President Tiffany Sanderson said. “He is focused on student success, supporting our industry partners, and continuing to find innovative ways to advance our mission as the nation’s premier technical college.”

Corey will be officially recommended on Aug. 14 during a Watertown School Board meeting.

Elizabeth is an intern with South Dakota Public Broadcasting.
