Over 3,000 South Dakotans will receive student loan forgiveness in the coming weeks.
The Biden-Harris Administration approved over 800,000 borrowers in an alternative loan-forgiveness plan after the Supreme Court ruled against Biden's initial, more widespread loan forgiveness proposal.
The loan forgiveness for South Dakota residents will total around $147 million dollars.
In a press statement, Biden said his administration has also worked to increase Pell Grants and improve loan programs like Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
“As long as I’m in office, I will continue to work to bring the promise of college to every American,” Biden said.
Officials said qualifying borrowers will automatically receive loan forgiveness without having to take any action.
