The University of South Dakota has named the next leader of its business school.
Timothy O’Keefe is the new dean of the Beacom school of Business, according to a press release from the university.
“USD has a long, rich history and proud tradition, but more importantly it has an exciting and bright future. It’s humbling to have the opportunity to be part of USD’s future, to eventually be part of its history and tradition," O'Keefe said. "The Beacom School of Business is the class of institution I have dreamt of leading for years—AACSB-accredited at a flagship institution, with a national reputation for excellence. The faculty and staff are driven, dedicated and focused on student success. Bonnie and I are delighted to make Vermillion our home and to become active members of the community.”
He previously led the business school at Longwood University in Virginia. Prior to that, he worked nearly 20 years at the University of North Dakota.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. O’Keefe to the Beacom School of Business,” said USD President Sheila K. Gestring. “His experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to provide our students with a world-class business education. With Dr. O’Keefe at the helm, the Beacom School of Business is poised for continued success and growth.”
O’Keefe officially begins his position on June 22. He replaces former dean Venky Venkatachalam.
