Sanford donates $250,000 to Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation

The Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation is receiving a $250,000 donation from Denny Sanford.

The donation will help support four programs as well as 1,800 teachers and 24,000 students in the Sioux Falls School District.

$100,000 will go toward Public School Proud Grants. Teachers in the district can apply for up to $10,000 to purchase educational materials and tools for their classrooms.

$50,000 will support First-Time Teacher Grants. First-year teachers receive a $200 grant from the Education Foundation to purchase general classroom materials.

The remaining $100,000 is split evenly between the Student Success Fund and the Education Foundation’s endowment. The success fund helps provide necessary supplies like hygiene products, winter clothing and school supplies to families struggling with poverty.
