Arts And The Common Core Standards

Scott Jones, Senior Associate for Research and Policy, Arts Education Partnership, Council of Chief State School Officers, and San Shaw, Science, Social Studies and Fine Arts Specialist, South Dakota Department of Education - Division of Curriculum, Career and Technical Education, talked about arts and the common core standards of education. At AEP, Scott Jones oversees the development of research and policy initiatives, including the continued expansion of ArtsEdSearch and the State Policy Database as well as the release of new publications exploring the importance of an arts education. Since 2009, Sam Shaw has consulted for and helped develop many initiatives involving teacher trainings to build instructional capacity.
