A man convicted in a West River bank robbery is sentenced to ten years in federal prison.

Prosecutors say Francis White Lance used a semi-automatic rifle to rob the Lakota Federal Credit Union in Kyle in November of 2022.

During the robbery, White Lance fired the gun over the head of one of the tellers. He was arrested a short time later. All but $100 of the money White Lance stole from the credit union was recovered by the FBI following his apprehension

White Lance pleaded guilty to bank robbery and firearms charges this March, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of South Dakota. He was sentenced last week.
