A man is facing three first-degree murder charges after a triple homicide in Sioux Falls.

Police say 30-year-old Justin Rackley shot and killed three people at a home on the southwest side of the city early Saturday morning.

Two other people were injured and are being treated at a hospital.

Police said the victims were together for a bonfire when shots were fired.

Officers found a handgun at the scene.

Police said Rackley and the victims were “new acquaintances,” however a motive in the shooting has not been released.

Aaron Nyberg is a lieutenant for the Sioux Falls Police Department. He said the city has not seen a case like this in a long time.

“The last time Sioux Falls had a homicide that involved three or more victims was 1973, where a family was found deceased in their home with what appeared to be four victims,” Nyberg said.
