Advocating for South Dakota's missing and murdered indigenous persons

Indigenous people account for over half of South Dakota's missing persons cases, according to state data.

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Awareness Day is Sunday, May 5.

Lily Mendoza is founder of the Red Ribbon Skirt Society, a grassroots collective dedicated to confronting the issue of missing and murdered indigenous women, children, and two-spirit and transgender people.

Mendoza joins "In the Moment" for a conversation on the work being done in Indian Country and the road ahead in advocating for accountability, safety and change.
