A Parker man received a six-year sentence after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter.

Twenty-six-year-old Phillip Delaney was sentenced for an infant’s death. The child died from injuries received in September 2022, authorities said.

South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and the Turner County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation.

Delaney was originally charged with an additional count of first-degree manslaughter as well as charges of second-degree murder and aggravated battery of an infant. His sentence was 20 years.

As part of his plea deal, the additional charges were dropped and his sentence was reduced.
