Fifteen dogs rescued in Sturgis

Fifteen dogs were rescued from an abusive owner in Sturgis, authorities said Monday.

The rescue comes after the report of a good Samaritan.

According to the Meade County Sheriff’s Office, the dogs were discovered in significant distress, malnourished, and confined to small enclosures on the property.

The local animal shelter was only able to take in five animals due to capacity issues. However, the Battle Mountain Humane Society in nearby Hot Springs said they would arrange permanent solutions for the remaining dogs.

The owners of the property were arrested for animal neglect violations. Their names have not been released.
