The state will receive almost $372,000 from a settlement with a software company, according to South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley.
The company, Blackbaud, had a security breach in 2020 that affected more than 13,000 users.
Blackbaud services nonprofit organizations. These organizations use the software to store their donors personal and financial information.
Jackley along with 48 other attorneys general brought a lawsuit against Blackbaud for failing to implement proper data security.
The total settlement amount for the lawsuit is $49.5 million.
