Two state prison inmates accused of attacking a correctional officer have been indicted on charges including attempted first-degree murder.
Lester Monroe, 48, and Kyle Jones, 30, allegedly attacked two corrections officers in late August.
Officials said the first officer was assaulted in Unit D of the Jameson Annex in Sioux Falls, before the second responding officer was attacked.
Both officers were taken to the hospital and have been released.
Monroe and Jones are being held at the state pen in Sioux Falls.
