Discovery of a man’s lifeless body has prompted the Sioux Falls Police Department to launch a homicide investigation.

On the morning of July 5, the remains of a 63-year-old man were found in an apartment near 3rd Street and Cliff Avenue east of Falls Park, according to police spokesperson Sam Clemens.

Narcotics were also found in the apartment, but police did not confirm if the drugs are connected to the man's death.

Authorities have not released the name of the deceased. It is unknown if he lived in the apartment. Clemens said more details are expected to be given following an initial autopsy report.
