There’s another leadership shakeup at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.

Teresa Bittinger has been named interim warden at the penitentiary and Jameson Annex, according to Department of Corrections spokesperson Michael Winder.

Winder said the change is effective immediately. He said he could not discuss personnel matters beyond that.

The previous warden, Daniel Sullivan, took over in 2021. Gov. Kristi Noem appointed him amid several leadership changes following complaints from prison staff over pay and working conditions.
