The Highway Patrol reports six more injury accidents at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, but no additional deaths.

Four of the accidents resulted in serious injuries, including two airlifts to Rapid City hospitals. One airlift was a 55-year-old male driver who was eastbound on U.S. Highway 14A, swerved to avoid an object in the road and struck a sign in the ditch 3 miles southwest of Lead. The other was a 56-year-old female driver who collided with another driver attempting to make a U-turn onto U.S. Highway 385, 16 miles south of Deadwood. The driver making the U-turn was not injured.

Other accidents included a 71-year-old male driver losing control of his motorcycle on Nemo Road one mile east of Nemo. The motorcycle ended up rolling on top of him, and he sustained serious injuries.

Another driver, a 48-year-old male, also lost control of and rolled his vehicle on U.S. Highway 212, 10 miles east of Belle Fourche. He suffered minor injuries.

A 72-year-old male driver rear-ended a 70-year-old male driver 1 mile south of Spearfish. The 70-year-old turned too quickly into a parking area coming off of Highway 14A, and the 72-year-old was thrown from his motorcycle as it tipped and suffered serious injuries.

A 61-year-old male driver and his 57-year-old female passenger lost control of their vehicle while getting onto Interstate 90 in Sturgis. The driver was not injured, and the passenger suffered minor injuries.

Four of the people injured in these accidents were not wearing helmets.

Prior to today’s report, other accidents claimed the lives of three people. The rally continues through Sunday.
