The Sturgis area will once again enjoy the beautiful music of Christmas as the Sturgis Area Arts Council presents the 44th Community Christmas Concert. Church musicians from the area will gather at the Sturgis Community Center Theater on Sunday, December 10th, at 2:00pm. for this popular community event.
Premiering in 1979, the concert is a beloved part of the Christmas holiday season. Church choirs from our local churches will share their love of choral and handbell music with our local music patrons. The concert is free to the public with an opportunity to give a free-will donation at the door.
Carol Skalsky, director of the Chapel Bells of First Presbyterian Church, is the combined choir director this year. She has chosen “Christmastime,” written by Michael W. Smith and Joanna Carlson, for the final mass choir anthem. The choir will be accompanied by a bell choir and piano. This piece is full of energy and joy and will be an audience favorite.
Please put this date on your calendar as you won’t want to miss this joyful event. Admission to this concert is free, but donations are always appreciated to help defray expenses.
