Color Splash is a two-person show featuring ceramic sculptures by Nancy Fairbanks of Grand Island, and geometric airbrush paintings by Andy Gentert of Hastings. Nancy Fairbanks has been an artist in central Nebraska for over 30 years. She earned her BFA from Nebraska Wesleyan University in studio arts, focusing on clay and sculpture. Fairbanks states, “My work is very colorful and unique. It is difficult to predict the demands of a market sometimes unable to appreciate the need for the funky and unique. What I build is a collaboration of the clay and my spirit.” Andy Gentert graduated from Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri in 1984 with a degree in art. In 1999, he started exhibiting at art shows throughout the region. His unique style incorporates geometric shapes, bright colors, and strong shadows in two-dimensional pieces that appear three-dimensional. Each work is cut out of a single, flat piece of Masonite, and is painted to look like overlapping three-dimensional shapes. An opening reception will be held Friday, May 4 from 5-7pm. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
