A Black Hills Area energy company is getting recognized for their work with a local agency that places persons with disabilities into the workplace.
The Black Hills Corporation received a national award for employing people in their security operations center.
Brad Saathoff is with Black Hills Works, the company that helps place workers with disabilities.
Saathoff says it’s more than just about the job.
“Where they make good wages, good benefits, and probably even more important than that, where they’re integrated into the whole work team of everyone else at Black Hills Corporation, and accepted and supported," Saathoff says. "The rest of the team at Black Hills Corporation rally’s around the workers with disabilities in phenomenal ways to help ensure that they’re very successful at their job. For several years now, that’s what’s happened.”
The relationship between Black Hills Works and Black Hills Corporation began seven years ago.
Saathoff says Black Hills Corporation employs anywhere from 8 to 10 people from Black Hills Works.
Black Hills Corporation was honored with an award from SourceAmerica, an organization that creates employment opportunities for people with significant disabilities across the country.
