Amazon co-founder and philanthropist Mackenzie Scott donates $5 million to nonprofits with South Dakota ties.

National Indian Youth Leadership Project receives $2 million to continue its mission supporting healthy habit building and skill development in indigenous youth.

SAGE Development Authority on the Standing Rock Reservation receives $1 million to continue developing renewable and sustainable energy resources.

Gender Justice receives $2 million dollars to continue their mission of working towards gender equality across the Midwest.

The gifts are part of a new round of donations from Scott’s organization, Yield Giving, totaling $640 million. Since 2020, Scott has donated over $24 million to South Dakota nonprofits

Ryan is the local host of "Morning Edition". Originally from Iowa, he first came to the Black Hills to study at SD Mines. After graduating in 2019, he was an educator in Arizona and North Dakota before returning to the Black Hills.
