A major Aberdeen manufacturing plant that employs more than 300 people is closing its doors.

Banner Engineering will close its plant at the end of the year, according to a report from The Aberdeen Insider.

“Given the current economic conditions and changes in business climate, Banner has determined it is necessary to consolidate our North American operations to remain competitive in the marketplace,” a letter sent to employees reads.

Manufacturing done in Aberdeen will shift to other North American facilities. Employees were told they can apply for one of 100 open positions at their plant in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

The company, which builds its sensors for a variety of different products, closed its Huron plant in March of 2023.
