Apprenticeships help build South Dakota's workforce

Nov. 13-19 is National Apprenticeship Week. The aim of the week is to shine light on the accessibility and need for apprenticeship skills and roles in the workforce.

Gov. Kristi Noem has been advocating for apprenticeship programs through her Freedom Works Here ad campaign. In April, she announced the state was providing an additional $7.9 million of funding for apprenticeships over the next three years.

"New and growing apprenticeship programs will ensure that South Dakota continues to have the best economy in the nation,” said Noem.

The state has added 330 new apprentices and seven new programs this year, with 25 more programs in development.
