The 2023 South Dakota State Fair attracted more than 178,000 guests this year.

That's down from last year when 192,000 guests attended, a total that approached pre-pandemic levels.

The fair had to contend with record-breaking heat this year.

According to the state, this year’s fair generated over $217,000 in tax revenue.

Next year's fair runs from Aug. 29 through Sept. 2.
