The city of Pierre has set its 2024 budget at $57.3 million. But, with several big projects straddling this and next year’s budget, Mayor Steve Harding says the commission looked at 2024’s budget a little differently.
Harding says they’ll close out open projects like the wastewater treatment plant renovation and the outdoor pool, among others. He also says they’ll work to clear some of the smaller projects that were delayed.
Another focus…helping out more than a dozen outside agencies like the Pierre Area Referral Service, the Discovery Center, and the Boys and Girls Club.
The city has two primary revenue sources -- sales tax and utility rates. Harding says, when it comes to sales tax, they’re sitting comfortably.
