Gov. Kristi Noem is launching a workforce recruitment campaign to encourage people to come live and work in South Dakota.

Noem said the “Freedom Works Here” campaign aims to fill the 25,000 open jobs in the state.

“We have the best economy in the nation, our unemployment is the lowest in American history, and South Dakota work ethic has never been stronger,” Noem said.

In a series of promotional videos, Noem poses as various professionals and highlights the benefits to working in South Dakota.

In one video, Noem plays a dentist while telling viewers that “Here in South Dakota, you’ll never pay a penny in personal state income tax, and, we accept most out of state professional licenses.”

In another ad, Noem highlights the South Dakota’s resilience after the pandemic and the thriving apprenticeship programs offered across the state.

The South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation will also provide job search assistance to people interested in finding employment, according to a news release from Noem's office.

“We are going to show America that South Dakota is the best place to live, work, and raise a family,” Noem said. “I look forward to continuing to build our winning workforce by welcoming new families to our great state.”
