The First Fruits Harvest Festival has a tall order to fill. The community dinner seeks to feed more than 1,000 people with only locally sourced fruit, vegetables and protein.
Jordan Deffenbaugh is a community liaison at the Community Revitalization Collective and is spearheading the festival.
He discusses revitalizing a community by bringing everyone together for a meal.
The First Fruits Festival is on Sept. 23 in the parking lot of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls. The Big Feast starts at 5 p.m.
