This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

The largest population of Kunama people in the United States calls Sioux Falls their home. Kunama is an ethnic group originally from Eritrea.

To uplift their cultural practices, the nonprofit Kobabala Farda Kunamasi is hosting a multi-day festival in Sioux Falls. It will celebrate Kunama music, fashion and dance.

The festival includes a special African Music Day at Levitt at the Falls on Saturday, Aug. 5.

Moses Idris is a co-founder of Kobabala Farda Kunamasi and a board member of Levitt at the Falls. He joined In the Moment to discuss the power of music.
