Passover begins Wednesday, marking one of the most important holidays on the Jewish calendar.
The holiday commemorates the Hebrew people escaping slavery in ancient Egypt. Ceremonies include several traditions tying Jewish people to their past, including a feast of unleavened bread flavored with bitter herbs.
Rabbi Mendel Alperowitz is the founder and director of the Chabad Jewish Center of South Dakota. He has a unique role as the only rabbi currently serving in the state. He joined In the Moment to discuss the importance of Passover to the Jewish community.
