The South Dakota Healthcare Association has identified the oldest living person in South Dakota.

At 107 years old, Hazel Christopherson Ness is a resident of Clark.

Ness is a first-generation American born to Norwegian-immigrant parents. She still practices her favorite Norwegian traditions like making lefse and oyster stew for her caregivers at Roetell Senior Housing in Clark.

She has two children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Marissa Brunkhorst is a junior at the University of South Dakota. She is from Hutchinson, Minnesota and is based out of the Vermillion studio.
