Gary Goodman turns a page on the rare book trade

This interview posted above is from SDPB's daily public-affairs show, In the Moment, hosted by Lori Walsh.

Before the digital age, if you wanted to find a rare book, you had to do some digging. Maybe you got in the car and journeyed to used book stores across the Midwest. Maybe you had to find someone equally obsessed with finding the perfect book for your collection.

Gary Goodman was one of those obsessed rare book dealers. In fact, he spent 40 years and put six kids through college by selling secondhand books. His memoir of this time is available now from University of Minnesota Press. It's called The Last Bookseller: A Life in the Rare Book Trade.

Goodman joined Lori Walsh on In the Moment to discuss his memoir.

If you're interested in hearing him speak, Goodman will be presenting at Augustana University in Sioux Falls today at 6 p.m. Humanities building room 123.

Lori Walsh is the host and senior producer of In the Moment.
