A B-25 Mitchell Bomber plane from World War II will tour South Dakota in May.

The events are intended to educate the public about the history of South Dakota aviators.

The tour is called RAID’22 in honor of the two South Dakotans who took part in the Doolittle Raid of 1942, which was America's first strike on Japan after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Teachers and students are invited to attend the shows May 9-12. The plane will stop in Rapid City, Rosebud, Aberdeen, Brookings, Chamberlain, Pierre and Sioux Falls.

Additionally, the tour will promote the Ellsworth Air Force Base Air Show. It’s scheduled for May 14-15 at the base near Rapid City and is free to the public.

Laura (she/her) is based at the Sioux Falls Studio. She is a journalism/anthropology student at Augustana University.
