'Burn beetle burn,' Custer comes together for conservation and community

This video comes from SDPB's arts & life program, Dakota Life.

Each year the community of Custer constructs a giant beetle that is burned at the annual Burning Beetle, a festival that brings people together around the idea of defending the black hills forest against the mountain pine beetle. This annual event continues to bring the Custer community together even after the pine beetle numbers have declined.
