19: Women of the Northern Plains

"Grassroots" by Judy Thompson.

In The Moment … November 17, 2020 Show 943 Hour 1

On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified, proclaiming, "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

For just a few more days you can experience an exhibit that celebrates the 19th Amendment through the works created by 19 female artists demonstrating the diverse and powerful voices of the women of the Northern Plains.

"19" is curated by Kristi Thomas, an Education Assistant at the Center for Western Studies. We also welcome Lindsay Twa, Professor of Art and Humanities Division Chair at Augustana University. She also has a piece in this exhibit.
