Greg Redlin's "White Hawk"

In The Moment … October 27, 2020 Show 929 Hour 1

In 1967 a grisly murder and rape rocked the community of Vermillion, South Dakota. The victims were a local business owner and his wife. The suspect -- a University of South Dakota student and stand-out athlete. The entire state cried out for justice, but justice was wrapped in the context of race, mental illness, capital punishment, loss of collective innocence, and a swiftly tilting cultural moment. Now a new book by South Dakota author Greg Redlin revisits the case through the lens of fiction. Greg joins us for a look at the book now.
