Joy Harjo, the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States, is coming to Brookings on December 4th for a Book Discussion and Poetry Reading at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the campus of South Dakota State University. The event is free, but tickets are required.
Joy Harjo is author of eight books of poetry and a memoir, "Crazy Brave." Her many honors include a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Jackson Poetry Prize, the American Indian Distinguished Achievement in the Arts Award, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Her latest book of poetry is called "An American Sunrise."
