Ben O'Brien Talks Hunting Season

The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks Commission established hunting seasons back in the 1900s. This measure allowed deer populations to recover from historic lows.

The practice continues to this day, and if you've lived in South Dakota long, you know deer hunting is what November is all about for many South Dakota outdoorsmen and women.

Ben O'Brien is the writer, editor, and host of The Hunting Collective podcast, a member of the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers Board of Directors, and MeatEater's Director of Hunting. He sat down with SDPB's Joshua Haiar to discuss the season.
