Dakota Midday: Nick Simon

Hollywood writer and director Nick Simon returns home to Sioux Falls for the October 29th Midwest Premiere of his Wes Craven executive produced film, THE GIRL IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS. The screening is only the second screening of the horror movie in the United States, and the fourth globally since its September world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. With cinematography by Dean Cundey (Halloween, Scream II, Jurassic Park, Back To The Future), it is also the last film produced by renowned horror filmmaker Wes Craven before his death in late August.

Doors open at 6:30 pm with film to screen at 7:00 pm at the West Mall 7, with a Q&A with Simon to follow. Tickets are only available through Cinema Falls.

Featuring performances by Kal Penn (Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle), Claudia Lee (“Hart of Dixie”) and Miranda Mayo (“Pretty Little Liars”), THE GIRL IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS focuses on an arrogant celebrity photographer and a small-town check-out girl as they encounter a string of disturbingly-artistic murders in the quiet Midwest town of Spearfish, South Dakota, though filming was set in Vancouver, BC.

Cara Hetland is the Director of Radio and Journalism Content for South Dakota Public Broadcasting.
