Pert Near Sandstone

A favorite of A Prairie Home Companion's Garrison Keilor, Pert Near Sandstone rejuvenates the American stringband sound with raw energy and tightly crafted music that lends itself to the modern audience while being stewards of the old-time and bluegrass traditions.  The band's unintentional formation emerged from weekly picking sessions at an old house in St. Paul, Minnesota.  It was just a bunch of friends getting together to play music.  It's the same informal chemistry that has Pert Near Sandstone at the top of their game 10 years later.  Keilor chose the group as the featured musical guest on A Prairie Home Companion in 2008.  Pert Near Sandstone can also list appearances at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Music City Roots and the International Bluegrass Music Conference as the oft-touring band is in great demand.  They are currently working on a follow-up to their 2014 release, "The Hardest Part of Leaving."  In June, they'll host the Blue Ox Music Festival just outside of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  Their No Cover, No Minimum Radio concert was recorded December 7, 2014 at the Matthews Opera House in Spearfish.
