Reina Del Cid And The Cidizens
Reina del Cid and the Cidizens ended a 21-month residency at St. Paul's Amsterdam Bar in September. During that stretch, they released their first album, "Blueprints, Plans," and they capitalized on the opportunity to experiment and tighten their live act. The young Minneapolis-based artist, del Cid, also developed a more engaging stage presence. Reina del Cid is a poet and a songwriter. However, she likes to separate the two as much as possible. She says her band, the Cidizens, drive the music. Toni Lindgren compliments del Cid on lead guitar and vocals and Chris Wiberg is captivating on the upright bass. Though not with the band for this particular performance, Zach Schmidt mans the drums. Reina del Cid and the Cidizens made several new fans at some big gigs this year including the CMJ in New York City, Summerfest in Milwaukee and the Underground Music Showcase in Denver. Their performance in Hill City on August 29 was part of the Miner Brewing Music Series.
