Hey Marseilles

Don't get the wrong impression when you hear that Hey Marseilles is a Seattle band.  Based in Seattle - yes.  But Hey Marseilles swirls from indie/folk to orchestral-pop as Matt Bishop's vocals embrace an instrumental pallete.  The band released their first album, "To Travels and Trunks," in 2008.  It was re-released two years later with an additional song.  In October, 2010, Hey Marseilles performed on NPR's "Tiny Desk Concert" podcast.  NPR called their record "sublime and heartfelt."  Their second album, "Lines We Trace," was released last March to critical acclaim.  The band logged several miles on tour, playing festivals like Bumbershoot, Sasquatch!, Lollapalooza and the Newport Folk Festival in addition to national tours.  Hey Marseilles performed as a five-piece band (minus Jacob Anderson) last August at Icon Lounge in Sioux Falls.  Matt Bishop is on lead vocals and guitar, Nick Ward on guitar and mandolin, Philip Kobernik on accordion and piano, Samuel Anderson on cello and Colin Richey on drums as Hey Marseilles sways from ethereal to powerful on this week's program.
