Dakota Midday: 'From the Top' Comes to Vermillion

Wendy Lynch

Over the past thirteen years, the National Public Radio program “From the Top” has featured many of the finest young classical musicians from around the country. Since the show's debut in 2000, hundreds of young artists from 8 to 18 have been showcased. Many “From the Top” alumni now hold major positions in American orchestras. On Sunday, September 15, “From the Top” comes to Vermillion for a live show taping at the National Music Museum on the USD campus. The performers include 13-year-old Rapid City violinist Maya Buchanan. The show is hosted by pianist Christopher O’Riley. He's looking forward to bringing “From the Top” to South Dakota and playing one of the National Music Museum's historic pianos.
