Gordy Pratt

This week's concert features the Original, Fabulous One Guy, Gordy Pratt, recorded live in SDPB's Martin Busch studio on the University of South Dakota campus in Vermillion on May 17th, 2013. Pratt's career in music began at an early age. When he was 12 years old, Gordy was spending summers at the Black Hills Playhouse, where he met a variety of performers and through those experiences, became hooked on the performing and entertainment industry. By age 13, he was performing professionally in Colorado. At one point in his career, Pratt became frustrated with being a musician and stopped playing for a while. But his love for music came back while performing in theatre in New York City. Pratt also became obsessed with classical guitar, studying the art form at Ithaca College and the Royal College of Music in England, and later toured the U.S. playing classical music.

He began writing and performing his own blend of stand-up musical comedy and does more than 100 shows a year across the country. He performs music from his favorite songwriters: Guy Clark, Don Henry, and many more. Pratt has opened for Kenny Chesney, The Beach Boys and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
