South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley recently returned from the National Association of Attorneys General meetings.  He joined guest host Cara Hetland to discuss his legislative priorities and visit about the national attention that the state's 24/7 program is receiving.

The South Dakota Supreme Court heard arguments Tuesday, Oct. 6, regarding the state’s standards for confessions. A Second Circuit judge excluded a confession in a child rape case, saying there was no corroborating evidence of sexual penetration. The state Attorney General asks justices to reverse the decision or change the standard.

Calls from scam artists posing as IRS agents continue to pop up in South Dakota. The callers say an arrest warrant has been issued and IRS agents will soon knock on the door, but the taxpayer can stay out of court by coming up with cash. One such scammer called SDPB’s Victoria Wicks Monday afternoon. She played along to get this story.

Anyone receiving a call from someone claiming to be an IRS agent may call the South Dakota Consumer Protection Division at 1-800-300-1986 or, if you’re calling from a cell phone with an out-of-state number, call 605-773-4400.
