The Sixth Governor’s Biennial art show has started its extensive tour through the state. It is now showing at the South Dakota Art Museum in Brookings. Those involved say this juried exhibition is South Dakota’s premiere showcase for the state’s artists. The Governor’s Biennial is at Brookings until January 2015, when it moves to the Dahl in Rapid City. Next June it goes to the Sioux Falls Washington Pavilion, then to USD, and in December 2015 to Aberdeen’s Dakota Prairie Museum.

Paul Peterson lives and works in the Black Hills, but he primarily paints abstract scenes of East River. About fifty of those paintings are now on exhibit at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City. As a visual artist and a musician, Peterson tells SDPB’s Victoria Wicks that the two arts are separate functions, but they work together to reveal who he is.
