Caroline Cotter is a travel-inspired singer/songwriter from Portland, Maine. She is celebrating the release of her second full-length studio album "Home on the River."

Her tour takes her across the United States and into Germany and the Netherlands with two stops in South Dakota.

"Home on the River" is the follow-up to Cotter's acclaimed 2015 debut, "Dreaming as I Do," which reached No. 5 on the Folk DJ chart.

Kid Dakota is the musical moniker of Darren Jackson. His albums include: So Pretty (2002), The West is the Future (2004), A Winner's Shadow (2008), and Listen to the Crows As They Take Flight (2011).

For this week's Moment in Sound we welcome award-winning songwriter James Elliot. He's chair of the Songwriting Department at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. His compositions have sold more than 10 million copies and been recorded by Steven Curtis Chapman, The Oak Ridge Boys, Newsong, Shenandoah, and others. Elliott's songs have been included on 5 Grammy Award-winning albums.

It's not unusual to see teens hanging out around water during hot summer afternoons. On Tuesday, one group gathered at Rapid Creek to learn about water quality and urban runoff. The program gave students a hands-on experience in science. SDPB's Chynna Lockett has more.
