What do 150 acres and the creatures who inhabit it have to say to the people who live, work and write among them?

Jerry Wilson lives with his poet wife, Norma, on Prairie Bluff in southeast South Dakota. For many years he taught literature and writing. He served as managing editor of South Dakota Magazine. Now he writes full time ... well, almost full time. He's got a lot of outdoor exploring to do as well.

His new book is called Seasons of the Coyote: A Year on Prairie Bluff.

Author Jerry Wilson joins Dakota Midday to talk about his new novel "Across the Cimmaron."

Wilson brings depth, thought and social consciousness to historical fiction in this story of the Land Run into Oklahoma Territory.

He talks with Dakota Midday host Lori Walsh about writing, about memory, and about  the complicated relationship humans have with the earth.
