Deborah LaVine's film, "Wild Prairie Rose" shows at the Black Hills Film Festival. LaVine joins us for a conversation about directing, filming in Beresford, and unexpected insight into what makes a good life.

The Black Hills Film Festival kicks off this weekend in Hill City. We begin the hour by talking with Chris VanNess about festival highlights.

The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota played host to the 2017 state wrestling championships this weekend with Pierre taking home the title in Class A and Beresford/Alcester-Hudson winning the title in Class B.

Dakota Galt won his fourth individual state title this weekend. He wrestles in the Class B 145 weight class for Beresford/Alcester-Hudson. Galt says a recent loss in his family made this years win even more special.

Hannah Norem is a sophomore at Augustana University. She made it into the semi-final round of College Jeopardy and is taking home a $10,000 prize.

“I thought, you know it’s a big deal being on Jeopardy. 12,000 people tried out and only 15 people made it,” says Norem.

During her first round of jeopardy Norem experienced a three-way tie. Then in her second round she barely fell short of making it into the finals.

"The Friendly Hour"

Caryl Crozier was the catalyst for the play, "The Friendly Hour," which is receiving its South Dakota premiere by the Northern Fort Playhouse.  Crozier compiled the notes of Beresford's Friendly Hour Club, kept by her mother and main character, Dorcas, of the play.  Crozier was joined on Dakota Midday by Dan Yurgaitis, artistic director for teh playhouse and professor of theater at Northern State University in Aberdeen.  Go to and for more information.
