Clare Vande Velde was a working mother during an era when women in the workforce wasn't as common as today. Beginning in the early 1960s, she had a job in a bank in the small, southwest Minnesota town of Kenneth. She and her husband and their four children lived above the family hardware store across the street from the bank.
In 2007, the StoryCorps traveling booth stopped in Sioux Falls and Clare Vande Velde and her daughter, Monica Cross, shared their memories.
