Renovations to O'Harra Roll Along

SD School of Mines & Technology

Efforts to renovate O'Harra Stadium in Rapid City continue. The facility hosts athletic contests for Central and Stevens High School and for the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

?The project received almost two million dollars from the City's Vision Fund. Joel Lueken is the Athletic Director at the School of Mines.  He says the college and the Rapid City Area School District have also contributed money for the project. Lueken says several upgrades are already in place.

"We got new turf with a padding system underneath to help the prevention of injuries and concussions, and we got a new track surface. We got a new video scoreboard from Daktronics, it's about 20 feet tall by 35 feet wide. And, then once football is over with, we are going to start construction on a brick pillar and wrought iron fence with a new brick ticket booth. All in time for the State track meet that's being held over here this spring - in May," Lueken says.

The stadium is located southeast of the Mines campus and was dedicated in 19-38.
