For Many St Patrick’s Day, conjures up images of leprechauns and four leaf clovers-but a new business is changing that. DeCory’s Haunt brings year round terror to South Dakota with holiday themed haunted houses for more than Halloween.
This is the sound of the St. Patrick’s Day themed haunted house. And full disclosure, some of those screams are coming from me because it’s terrifying.
DeCory’s Haunt recently hosted its first attraction on Pine Ridge. It was a Valentine’s Day themed Haunted House. Adonis Saltes helps run the business.
“It did so well we were saying ‘why not come to Rapid.’ We want to get out there for Halloween and really turn this into a professional haunt attraction.”
Saltes says the Rapid City St. Patrick’s attraction has brought in as many as 100 people in one night. He says his grandmother inspired the business.
“Our whole lives we’ve been putting on haunt attractions and we finally decided to take it to the next level and go public with it. We wanted to change the game up. Most people do it traditionally in October and we wanted to be the first to do something new.”
This month’s attraction includes a lot of clowns, chainsaws, and dolls. Saltes says they hope to expand to other South Dakota locations.
“It’s going to be different. No other haunt attraction in the world is doing it. We’re going to keep going and growing and scare people for a living.”
Saltes says they’re planning another attraction for July. Decory’s St. Patrick Haunt is running through Saturday, weather permitting.
